Tuesday 12 September 2023
Wellington United Diamonds are ready to take their place for the first time in the National League. While the Diamonds name is well known at NationaL League level, with the men having won it in 1976, 81 & 85. 2023 marks an historic occasion as the first time the women have been able to enter the National League.
This has been made possible by a partnership with Capital Football and the team will be known as CF - Wellington United
The Diamonds start their campaign with an away game to fellow Capital Football partnership club, CF - Waterside Karori at Martin Luckie Park on Saturday 23rd September at 4pm.
The draw has worked out well for fans of the team who will get to see them playing seven games in the capital, five homes games (Central Football, Southern United, Western Springs, Eastern Suburbs & Auckland United) and two of the away games are against Wellington opposition (CF - Waterside Karori & Wellington Phoenix Reserves).
The team will travel to Ellerslie and Canterbury United
Due to clashes with Athletics not all the games will be able to be played at Newtown Park. Wakefield Park and Petone Memorial will be used as well.
