Wellington United
Men's 1st Team

Wellington United Men's 1st Team
Mens Capital 1

The Wellington United Men’s 1st Team sits at the top of our men’s football pathway and represents one of two teams that the Men's side of the Club has within the Tier 1 space.
Over recent seasons, the team has undergone a significant rebuild both on and off the field, focused on reconnecting with our club values, strengthening our culture and creating an environment where players can grow and perform. The results of this mahi have been clear, with three consecutive promotions, and the team now preparing to compete in Capital 1! While results matter, our focus remains firmly on building something sustainable; strong teams, good people, and a connected football community.

Our Environment | The Men’s 1st Team operates in a competitive, high-performance environment that is grounded in strong relationships, accountability, and shared standards.
We aim to:
  • Develop good footballers and people
  • Build strong family connections
  • Set clear standards
  • Create a space that players enjoy
Our goal is to create teams that work hard for each other, enjoy turning up, and take pride in representing Wellington United.

Our Pathway | Wellington United is proud to offer a strong and connected men’s football pathway; one that is growing stronger year on year!
From juniors through to youth through to senior football, players are supported to develop at the right pace, in the right environment, with clear opportunities for progression.
Juniors → Youth → Reserves → Men’s 1st Team
We believe development is not linear, and we work closely across teams to support players wherever they are in their journey, whether that’s pushing for higher honours or enjoying being at the top of their game.

Our Football Direction | The Men’s 1st Team is led by Head Coach Jesse Redstall, whose leadership, football game sense, and calm approach have played a major role in the team’s recent success.

Jesse brings a deep passion to the game, strong tactical awareness, and a natural ability to connect with players. He had a unique ability to get the best out of players; creating a team environment that is both competitive and enjoyable to be part of.

At the heart of his approach is a focus on:
  • Strong footballing habits.
  • Clear playing setup and style.
  • Team connection and accountability.
  • Long-term player development,
Under Jesse’s leadership, the environment is one where players feel challenged, supported, and trusted; and where standards are paired with genuine care.

Our Culture | Culture matters to us. Our Club environment is built on our values Family, Ambition and Responsibility. We aim to create a space where players feel welcomed, valued, and supported and where strong friendships are built, confidence grows, and people feel proud to represent the club.

Joining Wellington United | We welcome players who are committed, open to learning, and excited to be part of a family team environment.
Whether you’re an ambitious young player or an experienced senior footballer; we value people who want to grow, contribute, and be part of something bigger.

If you think Wellington United could be the right place for you, we’d love to hear from you.
