SCAPE GOATS : Who are they
Born in 2015, Scape Goats originally started life as Fence & Deck Co. It was a simple operation back then, consisting of just Reuben and his radio. Kylie took care of the bookkeeping and helped out in the field whenever she could take time away from her job as a corporate administration manager and raising three teenagers.
It was only a couple of months before demand for our services became too great for us to keep up with. We employed Joe as our first apprentice. Since then we’ve employed another 40+ landscapers, instituted 16 landscaping apprenticeships and mentored many trainees, some into leadership roles.
We outgrew Fence & Deck Co. quickly and got the message loud and clear that our clients wanted far more than just fences and decks. By this time we had some brilliant and talented landscapers in our team, with skills in all facets of landscaping. We embarked on a rebrand and so began the iconic goat.
People often ask how the name Scape Goats came about. We’d been working on a particularly steep hillside property in Brooklyn. With burning calves and fresh grazes on our limbs daily, it occurred to us that being as nimble as mountain goats is a prerequisite to landscaping in Wellington.
We have fun with our brand and display it with pride. In many ways, it reflects who we are: hardworking, tenacious, diligent, agile and good natured.
We hope you will grab the goat by the horns and trust us to bring your landscaping dreams to fruition.
