Youth Football
Under 14s to Under 15s

Who Youth Football is suited to:
Our U14s & U15s programme is designed for players who are continuing their football journey and looking to further develop their technical skills, confidence, and understanding of the game in a supportive and enjoyable environment. Players are part of our girls’ youth pathway, and all abilities are welcome.

What a Typical Season Looks Like:
The youth football season typically aligns with School Terms 2 and 3, with additional opportunities provided throughout the year through our Golazo Skills Sessions, Golazo Academy, and Holiday Programmes.

Players who are a part of the Youth Football programme take part in:
  • Weekly Training Sessions | 1-2 per week
  • Weekly Game | Generally on Sundays
There is an increased focus on team play, game understanding, and consistency, while still maintaining a strong emphasis on enjoyment and development.

Our Development Approach:
At Wellington United, we focus on long-term player development in a positive environment.
For our Youth Football programme this means:
  • Developing strong technical skills under pressure
  • Improving decision-making and game awareness
  • Building confidence, communication, and teamwork
  • Encouraging responsibility, resilience, and a positive mindset

Our sessions align with New Zealand Football’s Whole of Football Plan 2.0, ensuring players develop at the right pace in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Above all, we want every child to feel welcomed, valued, and excited to come back each week.

Coaching & Player Support
Our Youth Football Programme is led by our Good Sorts (Volunteer) Parent Coaches, supported and guided by our qualified club coaches. Game Days are overseen by our Good Sorts Parent Coaches.

  • Session plans and coaching guidance.
  • Ongoing support and resources for parent coaches.
  • A strong club community to lean on.
No previous coaching experience is required - just enthusiasm, positivity, and a willingness to help our young players enjoy their football journey. We are always on the lookout for more good sorts, so if you are keen to get involved, please let us know :)
