Girls U17s and U19s

We run a full year programme for dedicated youth players to help bridge the gap between Junior and Senior Football. Through our Golazo Academy Squad we seek to introduce players to senior football in a progressive and enjoyable fashion; whether this be through our Opals, Sapphires or Diamonds teams. Players develop at different rates and ages and we strive to provide an environment that challenges our players both physically and mentally; importantly at a level that we feel is best suited for the player.

This allows players time to develop and adapt to women's football and for those who impress at trainings and games potential W-League opportunities await.

Tournaments
At the end of each season, we take a team to Christchurch to play in the U19 Girls National Championships.  This team is made up from our Sapphires, Golazo Academy players as well as 1-2 leadership players invited from our W-League team. We love this tournament so much that we have been partaking in it since 2013!

More recently we have added the U17 Girls National Championships which take place in Auckland each year at the start of each season. Spaces for this tournament are limited and teams are selected on a team by team basis. We are excited to announce that after a successful inaugural showing at this tournament in 2021 we have secured our place in the 2022 competition!

These tournaments are real highlights for our girls as they get to test themselves against some of the top youth female footballers from around the country! In addition to playing in awesome tournaments, touring as a group is always a lot of fun, and we undertake a couple of adventures along the way. Even the flights are an adventure when on tour!

If you would like to be a part of our Golazo Academy, please get in touch :)
